This is the Tuesday they call "Giving Tuesday". My thoughts on this is that it is good way to get all charitable donations done and out of the way, and out of one's mind for the rest of the year until next November 28th. My feelings about donations are somewhat vague. There are so many heartbreaking situations, crises, and disasters. How do we discern? I would like to say that we must give as our heart feels the urge. We can't make this a scheduled event, because disasters, problems, issues of concern, they happen all the time. And, we may not have our budgets able to stretch to give to EVERYONE. I will give when the Spirit tells me to give. But I give as the budget allows. The main way that I do 'give' is to use the situation in a story - something that is going to provide the "intention" of my story, book or creative work.
At this point, my creative efforts are in getting a publishing company put up which will invite authors/writers to send us their stories of inspiration, of hope, and of how God came into their lives when things were dire, desperate and out of control. In their journey, God became the focus and the rudder Who directed their lives and made their lives make sense NOT to those around them particularly, but to THEIR OWN WALK OF LIFE.
I once had a discussion with a banker who railed at me because of my 'dire' situation. It seemed as though she was stuck on what was in my checking account and financial life at that moment and extrapolated it to the rest of my life, without any inclusion of what may happen to make my finances better. I told her that LIFE IS NOT STATIC. LIFE CHANGES. IF YOU ARE GOOD and DO WHAT YOU SHOULD DO, then GOD WILL PROVIDE. I believe this wholeheartedly. GOD WILL NEVER ABANDON ME. HE WILL NEVER ABANDON THOSE WHO LOVE AND OBEY HIM.
I hope that one day everyone in the financial world, at least the banks where I live, will cease to think of their customers and clients as a one-note samba (lol). I intend to keep up with my book writing, keep up with my classes, and keep up with the LLC business that I have created. Those are what they should be thinking of, really. A person is not just a sum of his financial worth. A person is a sum of all that makes him or her a person of creation, of God's doing, of God's work. Therefore, we are a moving target, God is always focusing on what we are up to and He will always intervene to let us know whether we are going along the path He set out for us. It must be said that as people of God, we are never going to give into the temptations and the naysayers who say "Oh, but this will make you bankrupt!". It isn't for those people that God gives His attention. We must always be happy each day to appreciate the day's bounty, whether big or small. It is for us to let God know each day that we have faith in HIs Divine Providence. Let those bankers and financial counselors twirl away in their own lives, spending their precious time with those who have a million dollars to invest. They have to make their money somehow. People like me, writers and creators, must rely on the talents that God has given us, and the audience to which we address our work. Between us and our audience, our readers, we will be content, knowing that God is steering our ship. Let us go forward and be excited that God has given us a new day to contemplate what He wants us to focus on. It can be work, fun things, or mere meditation. All of that is God's work in US.
I hope you have a good Giving Tuesday. May God bless everyone of those who create.
